How much is left in my Mounjaro pen?
Used different doses from the same KwikPen? Log each injection and this works out how many clicks, milligrams and full doses you have left. A pen holds 240 usable clicks (60 = one full labelled dose).

How to work out what's left in your Mounjaro pen
The Mounjaro KwikPen is a multi-dose pen. It's designed to give four full doses, and you dial each one by turning the dose knob until it stops — that's 60 clicks per full dose, or 240 clicks in total. Because each click always releases the same small amount of liquid (0.01ml), counting clicks is a reliable way to know exactly how much medicine you have used and how much remains.
If you always take the pen's full labelled dose, it's simple: one pen lasts four weeks. But many people dial partialdoses — for instance taking 2.5mg from a 5mg pen while easing into treatment, or splitting doses to titrate gently. Once you start mixing dose sizes, it gets hard to track how much is left by eye. That's what this tool is for: enter each dose you've taken and it subtracts the clicks from the pen's 240, then converts the remainder into milligrams, millilitres and the number of full doses you can still get.
Worked example.Say you have a 5mg pen and you took one 2.5mg dose (30 clicks) and one smaller 1.5mg dose (18 clicks). That's 48 clicks used, leaving 192 clicks — roughly 16mg of medicine, or 1.92ml. At 2.5mg per dose (30 clicks) you could get six more doses from what's left.
Why tracking clicks helps you stretch a pen
Mounjaro is expensive, and running out unexpectedly mid-cycle is stressful. Knowing precisely how many clicks remain lets you plan ahead — whether that's ordering your next pen in good time or making sure a pen lasts until your next dose increase. It also helps you avoid the opposite problem: throwing away a pen that still has usable medicine in it.
Use the clicks calculator to work out the clicks for a specific dose, the clicks chart for a quick reference, or the titration planner to map out a step-by-step schedule.
Frequently asked questions
- How many clicks are in a Mounjaro KwikPen?
- A Mounjaro KwikPen holds 240 usable clicks — that's four full labelled doses of 60 clicks each. Some people also count roughly 60 extra clicks of overfill (the 'golden dose'), but that isn't part of the labelled pen.
- How do I know how much is left in my pen?
- Add up the clicks you've already dialled and subtract them from 240. For example, if you've taken a 30-click dose and a 20-click dose from a 5mg pen, that's 50 clicks used, leaving 190 clicks — about 15.8mg, or six more 2.5mg doses. This tracker does that maths for you for any mix of doses.
- How much medicine is one click?
- Every click delivers the same 0.01ml of liquid. In milligrams it depends on the pen strength: divide the pen's mg by 60. A 5mg pen gives about 0.083mg per click, a 10mg pen about 0.167mg, and a 15mg pen 0.25mg.
- Can I use different doses from the same pen?
- By click-counting, a single pen can deliver several different-sized doses rather than four identical ones — for example while titrating up. Tracking what you've used helps you avoid running out mid-cycle. Only change doses on your prescriber's advice.
- What is the 'golden dose'?
- KwikPens are slightly overfilled, leaving roughly 0.6ml (about 60 clicks) beyond the four labelled doses. Some people draw this out with a syringe as a fifth dose. It's off-label, not endorsed by the manufacturer, and carries sterility and accuracy risks.
